Harsha V. Agadi
Harsha V. Agadi is the president and chief executive officer of Crawford & Company®, and he serves as chairman of GHS Holdings, LLC. For 33 years, Agadi has passionately served businesses in leadership positions, including the role of CEO, Chairman and board member for prominent food service and franchise companies such as Church’s Fried Chicken, Friendly’s, Sbarro’s and Krystal. His ability to identify strengths, in both people and businesses, along with his willingness to take risks in order to create distinction and value, are the cornerstones of his success.
Agadi served on the board of Belmond Ltd. for eight years prior to the sale of the luxury resort company to LVMH. Agadi currently serves on the board of Crawford & Company and Diversified Foodservice Supply, Inc. He extends his work with these boards via his presence on the audit, investment and compensation committees, and he previously held the role of compensation committee chair for Belmond Ltd. and Crawford & Company. As a member of the Crawford board since 2010, Agadi was very familiar with its management, operations and strategic planning process, which made his transition to president & CEO both fluid and advantageous for the company. In these roles, he saw a unique opportunity for Crawford to shape the industry with cutting-edge technology and forward-thinking strategies. He became the chief executive officer in August 2015, which marks his fifth time holding a CEO title.
Since becoming Crawford’s CEO, Agadi has led a cultural and operational renaissance within Crawford by incorporating a new set of employee values and establishing the company mission to restore and enhance lives, businesses and communities. His leadership has led to Crawford enjoying its strongest financial position in years as it continues to embrace new technology and enhance its service solutions to help its customers meet current and future challenges. Agadi displays the strong character and acuity found in only the highest performing CEOs. His remarkable leadership of Crawford led him to being honored by Atlanta Business Chronicle as its 2017 Most Admired CEO.
Aside from Agadi’s corporate endeavors, he also actively participates on several charitable boards in the United States and abroad. He is on the board of Eaglebrook School in Massachusetts and Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, Agadi’s alma mater. In India, Agadi serves as chairman of the board of SKSVMA College of Engineering & Technology, a top 10 institution in Karnataka, India. Due to his passion for philanthropy, Agadi is an active donor via the GHS Charitable Foundation to Duke University, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, St. Jude’s Hospital and other healthcare focused organizations. He also established an endowment at the Fuqua School of Business, the Harshavardhan V. Agadi Scholarship, which is awarded each year to two promising female MBA candidates from India.
Between his several private equity partnerships, his management experience in several public companies and in his exceptionally strong management skills, Agadi has consistently produced stellar results. However, he wants to be judged by what he gives rather than what he receives; he considers this trait the true net worth of an individual. Most recently, Agadi received the 2019 B’nai B’rith International Distinguished Achievement Award, which recognizes the accomplishments of key community and business leaders from around the world. Agadi was recognized for his commitment to industry innovation, philanthropy, diversity, education and leadership in promoting tolerance around the globe.
Agadi is married to Geetha and they have one son, Samir. In his spare time, he enjoys movies, travel and stamp collecting.
