Joseph Blanco is executive vice president and general counsel for Crawford & Company, where he oversees the company’s strategic acquisitions and mergers along with the legal, internal audit and global ethics and compliance teams. He provides oversight for corporate governance matters, guiding Crawford’s performance and growth.
Blanco brings over 20 years of legal experience, as well as three years of military experience in the U.S. Navy, to the company. He has extensive corporate experience navigating mergers and acquisitions, as well as representing boards of directors and special committees in governance reviews and investigations for public, private and governmental institutions.
Prior to joining Crawford & Company full-time, Blanco served as the company’s interim general counsel, where he was instrumental in leading several initiatives, including the acquisition of WeGoLook®.
Before coming to Crawford, Blanco was the managing partner of the Atlanta office of Dentons, the world’s largest law firm. He also held the position of vice chair of the corporate department of McKenna, Long & Aldridge LLP, prior to its merger with Dentons.
Blanco serves on the boards of St. Vincent de Paul of Georgia; Woodruff Arts Center; Atlanta Area Council, Boy Scouts of America; and Emory Center for Ethics. In 2017, BTI Consulting Group recognized Blanco as a Client Service All Star, and Super Lawyers ranked him a top 100 lawyer in Georgia four times. He was a member of the Leadership Atlanta Class of 2012 and the Leadership Georgia Class of 2014.
Blanco holds a Juris Doctor degree from Emory University, where he held the position of editor-in-chief of the Emory Law Journal, and a bachelor of arts in economics and government from the University of Notre Dame, where he served as student body president. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia.
